Shreveport-Bossier Film Office/Commission invites community to
“The Year Without A Santa Claus” Showcase
In celebration
of the premiere of the made-for-television movie “The Year
Without A Santa Claus,” the Shreveport-Bossier Film Office/Commission
is hosting a free showcase open to the entire community on Monday,
Dec. 11. The film commission will deck the halls of the historic
Municipal Auditorium and roll out the red carpet to welcome the
families of Shreveport and Bossier City to this premiere Christmas
event.
This holiday
movie, starring John Goodman and Delta Burke, was filmed in Shreveport-Bossier
City this summer. It is one of nearly a dozen movies to film in
this area in 2006, which combined have left an economic impact
of more than $70 million.
Doors will
open at 5:30 p.m. The first 500 children will receive a special
gift courtesy of the Shreveport-Bossier Film Office/Commission.
Come early to pose with Santa for pictures, view displays of movie
memorabilia, take a guided tour of the historic Municipal Auditorium,
enjoy musical holiday entertainment, and hear commentary from
local stars that appeared in the movie. Refreshments will be available
for purchase. One lucky movie-goer will win a grand prize raffle
of an eight-foot stocking filled with toys. Remarks from Betty
Jo LeBrun-Mooring, executive director of the Shreveport-Bossier
Film Office/Commission will precede the 7 p.m. showing. The movie
will last approximately 90 minutes and will air commercial-free
an hour earlier than the scheduled time of its premiere on NBC.
Use of cameras in the auditorium during the showing is prohibited.
The showcase
is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for admission.
Tickets can be picked up at the Shreveport-Bossier Convention
& Tourist Bureau, the Municipal Auditorium, the Bossier Visitor
Center, and the Louisiana Boardwalk Information Center. The limit
